Holy Complications!

06 Feb

I am in the process of reading The Circle Maker by Mark Batterson.  It is a book that I would highly recommend to anyone who is interested in giving their prayer life a jump-start.  It has been a tremendous blessing to me and has caused me to look at prayer in a whole new light.

In the book there is a section called Holy Complications and he writes:

The blessings of God won’t just bless you; they will also complicate your life.  Sin will                                           complicate your life in negative ways.  The blessings of God will complicate your life in positive ways.

Many times we find ourselves praying that God would make our lives easier, more manageable, and less complicated.  Perhaps God is answering those prayers.  Is it possible that God is with-holding some of his blessings just because we keep asking Him to remove the complications.

Melissa and I are expecting child number 5.  Complicated? YES!  Having 5 kids all under the age of 7…extremely complicated.  But I thank God every day for those Holy Complications.  Sure it can become difficult at times…sure they can be hard to manage…and sometimes you just need to be a bad parent and plug your ears and let them fight it out, survival of the fittest style.  But I wouldn’t even think to ask for less complications…in fact I’m really looking forward to more complications.

How about you?  What are your Holy Complications?
