Birthday Advice

28 Feb

Today is a super special day for me.  I have the privilege of sharing birthdays with the cutest little five-year-old girl on the planet.  This morning I was in the kitchen and Phoebe came upstairs before anyone else was awake.  She was so excited and we got to share a little birthday boy and birthday girl moment before anyone else was awake.

When we were talking I asked her if she was happy that our birthdays were on the same day.  She said she was, “Soooo happy.”  Then asked if they were going to be on the same day next year.  When I told her that our birthdays where going to be on the same day EVERY year, it just about blew her mind she was so excited.

So here is the point of this blog today…I need some advice.  What can I do to make sure that Phoebe at 17 is just as excited to share a birthday with her daddy as Phoebe at 5 was?  Any suggestions?

Get her a car at 17! It will totally make up for the let-down at 16, and there would definitely be excitement!

Just continue to give her unconditional love, and be the cool dad you are now. Warning, being a cool dad when she is 17 and boys are calling her and wanting to take her out will be one of the biggest challenges of your life. Girls have the ability to wrap their daddy around their little finger without even trying. Be strong in Christ!!

You should start today… And make her a LOVE journal…. Weekly or daily write in a notebook… Preferably something girly… Pink and purple… And write down things u love about her… Things she says.. Or things she does that u love…. So then on her 17th birthday…. Give it to her… So no matter what she has faced in life… She’ll kno that she’s always had her “daddy’s” love…. And Be able to look at it whenever she needs reminded of how loved she really is….. : )
